The Spirit-Empowered Church
The Awakened Church
January 25, 2026
As the early church continued to grow, God used an internal challenge to awaken His people and advance the mission of the gospel. In Acts 6, we see how the Holy Spirit turns potential division into an opportunity for care, leadership clarity, and spiritual fruit. What looked like a complaint became a catalyst for greater faithfulness and multiplication.

This message walks through four marks of an awakened church:
1. Turning complaints into opportunities for care instead of division (Acts 6:1–2)
2. Appointing disciples full of the Spirit and wisdom to meet real needs (Acts 6:3)
3. Focusing leaders on prayer and the ministry of the Word as protected priorities (Acts 6:4)
4. Trusting God for the increase and fruit that only He can produce (Acts 6:5–7)
When every believer embraces their calling and leaders remain devoted to prayer and God’s Word, the result is unmistakable. The Word of God increases, disciples multiply, and even unexpected people come to faith. This is God’s design for His church then and now.
Acts 6 reminds us that persecution does not destroy the church. Pressure does not stop God’s work. Instead, God awakens His people, strengthens His church, and brings lasting fruit for His glory.
