Launched By The Spirit

The greatest missionary movement in history didn't start with a strategy session or a whiteboard. It started with five people in a prayer meeting, fasting, and a word from the Holy Spirit: "Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them." Acts 13 is the launch. Not scattered — sent. The church in Antioch becomes the first church to intentionally commission and send out missionaries, and the way it happens tells us everything about how God moves. He doesn't pick people in the moment. The calling already happened. They just finally got quiet enough to hear it. Three movements from the text: Listen for God's call — it happens in prayer and fasting, not in planning meetings. The church wasn't organized into going. They were worshipping, waiting, and sensitive. That's when the Spirit spoke. Proclaim God's word — everywhere they landed, they opened their mouths. No platform required. The call is clear and it hasn't changed. Expect opposition — the devil doesn't fire randomly. He takes aim. But the same Spirit that launched them is the one who carries them through.
