Come Home | Luke 15:11-32 | CityLine Bible Church
A son demanded his inheritance from a still-living father, walked away, and burned through everything in a far country. When he finally hit the bottom of a pig pen with nothing but his own shame, he turned toward home — and his father was already running.
In this opening message of our new six-week series, "Come Seek the Face of God," we walk through the parable in Luke 15:11-32. It's often called the prodigal son, but this story isn't really about the son's rebellion — it's about the father's love.
Four questions from the text — the four F's:
Why did the younger son want to leave? Freedom
What does life look like without the father? Famine
How did the father receive his son back? Forgiveness
What did the older brother feel? Frustration
From a clumsy bike-ride lesson, to a 13th birthday MVP medal handed out after zero points and five fouls, to an elderly couple at a stoplight — the message keeps landing the same way: no matter how far you've strayed, you can always come home to the Father. Proximity to the Father doesn't guarantee closeness with the Father. And the Father hasn't moved.
