Ordinary People, Extraordinary God
In My Right Mind
August 9, 2026
Continuing our summer series, Ordinary People, Extraordinary God, we come to Mark 5 and a man no chains could hold — living among the tombs, cutting himself, out of his mind. Then Jesus steps off the boat, and moments later the same man is "sitting there, clothed and in his right mind." He wasn't just released; he was received. And Jesus sends him home to tell it.
Four marks of a life in its right mind:
Return to my world — mission starts at home, with the friends and family who watched you change.
Honor my Savior — not big theology, just your story: how much the Lord has done for you.
Tell of his mercy — mercy isn't only a debt cancelled but a place to belong; unlike Brooks in Shawshank, released yet never received, this man was welcomed home.
Fulfill his mission — my world + my Savior + his mercy = his mission; you don't need the perfect moment or the gift of evangelism, just an open door and the name of Jesus.
He went and proclaimed in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him — and everyone marveled.
